Senior Executives Must Embrace Generative AI for Career Growth

“Keep learning as if you are going to live forever.” – Gandhi

“AI won’t replace you – A person using AI will.” – Modern Day Adage

By John Decker, EVP MDL Parnter

My grandfather came of age during the time when automobiles were the newest technology and spreading rapidly around the country. He had a good solid bicycle and was able to pedal to pretty much any place he wanted to go. So, he decided that he didn’t need to learn how to drive or spend time or money on the jazzy new Model A. As he got older and the cars became more complex and sophisticated, he fell further behind until he was one of the few people in Kingston, New York who didn’t drive. I suppose there is some question as to whether his life would have been better if he did learn – he worked eight blocks from his home and various friends and relatives were happy to drive him to doctor’s appointments and other errands.

Generative AI is different. If you are in a professional career and are not planning to retire to a tropical island in the next few months, you need to learn new AI skills.  AI technology is not just for junior staff or mid-level management. Senior leadership should embrace AI not only for personal benefit but also to better understand how this tech fits into your business and marketplace. This is particularly true if you are in or are planning a job search.  Take the skills to heart or you’ll be riding your three-speed when everybody else is in a Tesla.  And remember, while ChatGPT has 100,000,000+ users, almost everyone’s STUCK in beginner mode, but you can get ahead of the curve with the following information…
